Yashi’s Birthday

By Jacklyn | April 1, 2007

yashi.PNG1st April! April Fool Day? To me, it has another meaning. Its my baby Yashis birthday! And you know something… he loves cake! Yashi is 9 yrs old now, which most of my friends will call him Ah Pek as they deemed him as 63 (9×7) yrs old. Well, whichever his age, he is always the best companion I can have. His birthday present? One whole hour of play in the garden and of course, his birthday cake!
Do you own a pet? Youll understand how much joy and love they can give to us. In fact, a survey done in USA has shown that people that owns pets lives healthier and longer as their percentage of having cardio-vascular related diseases is much lower. Cool ya? Pets also contribute to our well being!
Few years back, I saw a very big poster of a Golden Retriever at Mt Pleasant Animal Hospital with big words that states: “To you, he is your pet, To him, you are his Everything!” Isnt that true? Dogs are one of the most royal (and focused) species around in the world.
At that point of time, it really sets me thinking about my life. We want so much things in life – money, house, car, status, fame, power, and so often we lost focus on the most important area that support us like our health, our family, our love ones, our deep down Values in our heart, and even our spiritual needs.
Since then, I started to prioritize my time and energy to what is dearest to me while achieving the final outcome I want in my life. Im always guided by this quote: Success is a journey, not a destination. Isnt it great to feel being successful everyday?! You bet! Its a choice we can take to feel good and dynamic thus yielding great results. Experience it yourself and share it with us here. My trick? To me, every little contribution I made and every little improvement I have today compared to yesterday is a daily success
Thats it for today. If youve been fooled today, Happy April Fool Day!

Nice to have a pet and a companion to keep us company through our days and night. I think human beings are made to relate to other living things, and we should treasure them too. For me, my 3.5 year old son Ethan is enough to occupy most of my discretionary time after work!

I cannot believe the coincidence. Guess what? Yup, I’m an April Fool’s Boy. I’m born on April 1st. And it’s also my 21st this year!

Very interesting blog here, I’m also a fan of Personal Development myself. Hope to learn more from each other. Keep it up!

Hey Walter, happy to hear that you have passion for other living animals too. I can understand how much time and attention you have to devote to cute little Ethan. As a father, I guess watching and being with him growing up is the greatest joy you can have! Enjoy it…

    Hi Jacklyn

I used to have a dog too, a silky terrier. I was so sad when she passed away. I had her for 13 years and she was really old! But i did enjoyed the best time of my life having a dog cos she’s quite human-like in a way. it’s strange how an animal can touch us in many different ways. :)

Hey Connie, I can feel your sadness upon the lost of your pet. I lost my first pet (a white rabbit) to old age 15 yrs ago. I can still remember vividly her look and the joy we shared together untill now..
Can you recognize that Yashi is also a silky terrier? I cut his hair so short that most people cannot identify his breed. His handsome long ‘hairstyle’ is just too much for his mummy (me!) to bathe him almost everyday as he keep peeing onto his own hair! Ha..may be I should train him to lift his legs up 180 degrees to pee…

Thank you for your kind comments!

I am a pet lover too. I like rodents haha… I used to have hamsters and a Chinchilla. I find them extremely cute haha especially when they run around… miss the times.

Not much knowledge about dogs though.

Keep up the good work with the site!
