Eagle Parable James Aggrey
By Jacklyn | May 25, 2008
Once a man found a young eagle in a forest and took it home and put it in his barnyard. The eagle ate the chicken feed and behaved just as chickens do. One day a naturalist friend noticed it and asked the owner why the eagle, king of all birds, confined with the chickens, “Since I have given chicken feed and trained it to be a chicken, it has never learned to fly,” answered the man. “Still,” insisted the naturalist, “it has heart of an eagle and certainly it can be taught to fly.”
The two agreed to find out whether it was possible. The naturalist took the eagle and said
“You belong to the sky and not the earth. Stretch forth your wings and fly”. The eagle was confused and refused to make an attempt. The second day the naturalist took the eagle to the roof and urged the eagle again. But the eagle was afraid and jumped down for the chicken feed. On the third day the naturalist took it to the top of a mountain. He held the eagle high above him and said. “You are an eagle. You belong to the sky as well as the earth. Stretch forth your wings and fly.”
The eagle slowly looked around, up to the sky and down to the barnyard. The naturalist lifted him further up, and the eagle started trembling, slowly he stretched his wings and with a triumphant cry, he soared away into the heavens.
… from A Return To Love, Marianne Williamson so eloquently states: “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our Light, not our Darkness that most frightens us.” We are all eagles. Once we have flown, we can never go back to live like a chicken. It is not a delusion to think we can fly; it is a delusion to think we can’t. Manage your fear of greatness and then … stretch forth your wings and fly toward the dreams that are awaiting you.

Business Network International (BNI)
By Jacklyn | May 22, 2008
I was invited to attend a Business Network International (BNI) breakfast meeting on Tuesday. In fact, this is the 3rd time my cousin Catherine Pang invited me. Thanks to her persistence, I finally get to know and understand what BNI is all about.
The mission of BNI is to help their members increase their business through a structured, positive, and professional “Word-of-Mouth” program that enables them to develop long term, meaningful relationship with quality business professionals.
As the saying goes “Word of Mouth is the most cost-effective form of advertising possible.” And BNI provides a structured environment for the development and exchange of quality business referrals. I am very impressed on how professional the meeting was conducted in conducive environment with high level of energy and trust.
I have learned that in every chapter (group), each individual industry or trade can only be represented by one member. So there is no competition or conflict of interest in who the members should refer their friends to. It came as a not-too-good news for me as my profession with E.Excel International is in the wellness industry, one of the fastest expanding industry in the globe today. This slot has long been taken up in every chapter in Singapore.
Well, that gives me another inspiration. I can always start a brand new chapter myself! Invite enough people from different trade, abide by the rules of BNI, get registered with HQ, and a new chapter is born. If you are residing in Singapore and keen in this idea, drop me a note and we can discuss it together.
Continue to learn, continue to network and continue to grow your business which you deserve. Cheers!

Don’t Stress It
By Jacklyn | May 18, 2008
By Carl Hampton
Did you know that stress can make you sick? I mean physically sick, not mentally sick. Most of the time when we are stressed, we say things like “I’m sick and tired” and that could be a lot truer than we think.
When the body undergoes stress, your immune system begins to drop and the body becomes more open to germs leading to unwanted illnesses. Have you ever wondered why so many high school and college students often have a cold or the flu around midterm and finals time? Maybe you have noticed that many of your co-workers will get sick when there is a really big deadline that needs to be met. Read the rest of this entry »

Lead Yourself First
By Jacklyn | May 6, 2008
By Rich Vosler
So, you want to be a leader? It’s not as easy as it sounds but it is simple if you take the suggestions outlined here that I’m going to give you.
Many people believe that tenure at a job or in a position automatically qualifies them to be a leader. There are even some companies who practice that. I think that could be disastrous. On the other hand, if the candidate does an excellent job in the position and they have demonstrated leadership qualities, by all means they may be a good leader. But time in a position is not the only qualification.
What I’ve seen proven again and again in terms of sales and management is that the best salesperson does not necessarily make the best leader. I know some phenomenal sales people who would make terrible managers, and they’ve told me so! Sure they are skilled in the technical aspects of sales and are excellent at what they do, but that doesn’t mean that they have what it takes to be a leader. Leadership is much more than knowing what to do on a job or how it works. I don’t want to focus on that for this specific article because there’s a very important step that comes before leading others that many experts don’t talk about and that’s leading yourself. Book Review – Secrets of the Millionaire Mind by T.Harv Eker
By Jacklyn | May 5, 2008
Just finished the book ‘Secrets of the Millionaire Mind – Mastering the inner game of wealth’ by T.Harv Eker. A very clear and concise book. Some extracts here..
So getting a huge sum of money the next day will make us rich?
The vast majority of people simply do not have the internal capacity to create and hold on to large amounts of money and the increased challenge that go with more money and success. That, my friends, is the primary reason they don’t have money. A perfect example is lottery winners. Research has shown again and again that regardless of size of their winnings, most lottery winners eventually return to their original financial state, the amount they can comfortably live with. On the other hand, the opposite occurs for self-made millionaires. Notice that when self-made millionaires lose their money, they usually have it back within a relatively short period of time. Donald Trump, is a good example. Read the rest of this entry »
